Turkey is chasing me!
I know the title sounds a little odd, but I'm feeling really close to Turkey these days without any effort on my part.
Between my home on Azza St. and the corner where the Prime Minister's security have their stake out are two buildings. The one immediately adjacent to me is a modern residential building that houses some offices as well, and the next building on the actual corner was one I never really could identify. I assumed that the PM's security had taken over the building for their own use. It looked formal and secure, there is an electronic gate blocking off its driveway and no one seems to enter on foot. As I just learned, that building is apparently the residence of the Consular General from Turkey.
This is significant, because it reminds me of my home in Georgetown. My building was on Q St, NW adjacent to Rock Creek Park on its west side. The building adjacent to the park on the east side was the Ambassador from Turkey's residence. Anyone noticing a pattern?
As Turkey's diplomats keep seeming to find me and somehow ensuring that I am their neighbors, it might be time to consider traveling there. Living in Israel it is a much closer journey. I am beginning to feel a kinship with them....
Best wishes for a G'mar Hatimah Tovah!
(With Sukkot vacation approaching I hope to update my blog with more regularity. Yes, Sukkot is a vacation holiday here!)
