More Harrassment from Government Ministries
Dear Friends, do not confuse the abuse I am receiving from the Ministry of Health with the abuse from the Ministry of Education.
Quick Recap: The Ministry of Health does not believe that I studied psychology, despite that I graduated from one of the most prominent psychology programs in the US; the Ministry of Education does not believe that I have a PhD, despite that it was granted by one of the most prominent higher education, research insitutes in the US. What can I say? Everything is possible in Israel, including erasing years of hard work that is respected throughout the rest of the world.
On Thursday I got a letter from the Education folks asking for another obscure, non-existent form in the never-ending process of proving that my PhD is legitimate. I couldn't stop swearing after I read it. They haven't rejected me yet, unlike the Health folks who rejected me, approved me, rescinded the approval, and now won't believe me or the Ministry of Interior that I *am* a citizen. The Education folks are just stringing me along.
The latest: after furnishing them with obscure forms, including the form my committee signed at the time of my dissertation defense, a hard copy of my 400-page dissertation, and a form describing my studies that was notarized by a lawyer, I need furnish a letter from my university stating the names, university positions and committee roles of the members of my dissertation defense committee. Why is the diploma good enough for everyone else? After I pass this hurdle, they will let me re-defend my study to a group of surly, arrogant professors. Yipee.
This morning I got a message from the psychologist-oleh advocate who is trying to help me prove that I am a psychologist and a citizen. He told the sidekick of the Killer of Zionist Dreams, the one who I could not reach for two weeks b.c she was in a "meeting" all morning and then immediately left for a week-long "conference," that if he were in my shoes he would leave Israel. There is only so much abuse one can handle.
Good thing being a grad student toughened me. Not at my limit yet... Sigh...
